In this regard, Her Excellency Khawla Al Serkal, Director General of Sharjah Ladies Club, said: The club is keen to participate annually in the “Pink October” initiatives and campaign, based on its institutional values and principles of social responsibility in terms of spreading the health culture among members of society, and working to enhance the level of awareness among women about the risks of breast cancer and the benefits of early detection of this disease, encouraging them to conduct regular examinations, and adhere to the correct healthy and nutritional habits to prevent it.

Efforts to promote Sharjah’s position as a healthy city

Al Serkal added that the club’s efforts embody our constant keenness to translate the directives and visions of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of the Sharjah Ladies Club in the emirate, to achieve comprehensive health security for community members and ensure the well-being of the population, and to provide the highest levels of health awareness among them, which was reflected in the selection of Sharjah, at the beginning of this year, by the World Health Organization as a healthy city for the second time consecutively.

The club’s headquarters introduced various events, activities and offers during the month of Pink October. In cooperation with the Pink Caravan, it also provided free examinations for women to raise their awareness of the importance of early detection. The 180º Fitness Center offered special offers consisting of a two-month membership with 15 free classes, a personal workout session, two fitness assessment sessions, and registration for 6 TechnoShape sessions to win a free session.

The club also organized the Pink Zumba event at the outdoor tennis court, and part of the event’s proceeds were allocated for the Pink Caravan. The Orchid Beauty Boutique organized a full day that included hair consultations by Brae specialist, a therapeutic art workshop and offers on various products and services.

In the context of providing moral support to patients, Orchid Beauty Boutique, in cooperation with the Friends of Cancer Patients Society, announced that it will welcome women who wish to cut tufts of their hair and donate them to breast cancer patients affected by chemotherapy throughout the month of October.

Collage Café also offered a customized assortment of healthy drinks and juices compatible with the campaign, the visitors to the Collage Talent Center were also given a range of offers and discounts for hair and nail care services, and art workshops.

Khorfakkan Branch

The Khorfakkan branch set an agenda of multiple activities to celebrate the initiative, which included organizing an event (my mother’s and my fingerprint), and holding a workshop (My health is in my food) in cooperation with the Al-Loulo’iah Health Center. The branch also hosted the Pink Caravan to conduct free examinations for those wishing for early detection of the disease.

Layaqa Center offered discounts on fitness and swimming services, in addition to a 15% Pink October discount on all new monthly and daily subscriptions, as well as raffles on free vouchers for aerobic training and free swimming calsses.

Hamriyah Branch

The Sharjah Ladies Club branch in Hamriyah organized a package of events distributed throughout October in conjunction with the campaign, where Ibdaa Center, in cooperation with the Department of Social Services, distributed awareness gifts to women, and organized an educational lecture for women on breast cancer prevention, in cooperation with the Health Center in the region.

Joori Beauty Center provided customized services and special offers for nail, body and hair care.

Batayeh Branch

Al-Bataeh branch organized a number of events and activities during the month of October. The visitors of the branch were received by a pavilion dedicated to hosting women and educating them about the importance of early detection and in cooperation with the Al-Bataeh Health Center, giving them the opportunity to take advantage of the offers and discounts offered by Marasi Restaurant and Layaqa Center.

Wadi Al Hilo Branch

On October 20, a number of events were held at the Wadi Al-Hilo branch, including conducting free examinations for women in the region, holding an awareness lecture in cooperation with Hatta Hospital, implementing a sport activity, distributing educational brochures and discounts offered by Marasi Restaurant and Layaqa center for participants in the campaign
