Sharjah 24: Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Chairperson of Sharjah Ladies Club – SLC, visited Al Hamriya branch of SLC recently. The visit formed part of Her Highness’s desire to support women’s institutions operating in the different regions of the Emirate of Sharjah.
During the visit, Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi toured the club’s facilities, inspecting the Fitness Centre, Jouri Beauty Salon and Creative Hobby Centre, all of which have received recent upgrades. Her Highness met with Amna Al Shanasi, Manager of SLC Branches, as well as a number of managers from Al Hamriya’s Club departments. The representatives discussed with Her Highness the qualitative advantages added by the modernisation, which was achieved in the framework of the club’s commitment to providing integrated entertainment experiences for women.

Her Highness was briefed about the array of programmes and services provided by each SLC branch – of which there are 10 in Sharjah – as well as their future plans to achieve further expansion. Halima Al Oweis, Manager of SLC Al Hamriya Branch welcomed Her Highness and praised the great support that she gives to women and children in the emirate, with the numerous launching of initiatives aimed at empowering women and inspiring them to enhance their capabilities in all fields.

Amna Al Shanasi expressed her gratitude to Her Highness for the support that she provides the SLC branches, highlighting her desire to see women progress in all areas of their lives. She drew attention to Her Highness’s interaction with the women of Al Hamriya region, where Her Highness enquired about their needs and discussed with them opportunities and challenges.

“In line with the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, we are on a continuous mission to enhance the world-class qualities in our facilities. With this in mind, we have recently implemented a series of modernisation projects at Sharjah Ladies Club – Al Hamriya branch, which includes equipment upgrades, a reimagining of space and the new provision of services. We have reorganised staffing arrangements so that SLC team members can deliver the services in a safe and distinctive place for women to practice a variety of sports, social and cultural activities,” said Al Shanasi.

Al Hamriya SLC’s development programme has resulted in its training halls being equipped with the latest technology to facilitate courses in information technology, calligraphy, plastic arts, photography and other subjects. Its fitness centre now offers an improved spatial environment, more advanced equipment, a new aerobic studio and a complement of trained fitness specialists to offer advice and personal training. With respect to its dining facilities, the branch’s Marassi restaurant has introduced quality updates, including diversification of the menu items offered, a balancing of international and local cuisine and new dishes suitable for specific times of the year, such as Ramadan and Eid.

SLC’s Al Hamriyah branch was established in 1996 as one of the first SLC branches, under the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, to provide premium social and recreational facilities for women in Sharjah. The branch was inaugurated in conjunction with the opening of Al Dhaid and Khorfakkan branches in the central and eastern regions. As with all branches, Al Hamriya SLC offers a haven for women and girls to engage in a variety of activities, workshops and programmes that enhance their skills and professional capabilities.
